I have fished Nipigon lakers about 6 times over the last 15 years. Started on the south end and spent the last 2 years on the north end of the lake. You don’t catch alot of lakers in a day, (maybe 3-4 per day average) but the potential for a big one is always there. We’ve missed some real big ones we had hooked. Largest for our group in 28 lbs. I noticed that you never mentioned brook trout but we have had pretty good luck fishing them. Biggest was a 6 1/2 lb. monster.
I have fished the Jackfish two times over the last 5 years. I heard about it from a guy I met online while searching for fishing information on Lake Nipigon. I didn’t believe him at first when he told me about the number of walleyes you could catch in 3 or 4 hours. We fished all the way up the river, just below the rapids and railroad bridge.
Going again this week for 5 day trip. Can’t wait.
