Shangri-La Lodge and Marina, in Southeast Ontario, provides a great bargain on Whitefish Lake on the Rideau canal. Their American Plan package rates are as good as it gets. They make my list as I have friends that stay here every year and absolutely love this place.

Fishing
Whitefish Lake and the Rideau is well known for its largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, perch, crappy, lake trout and splake fishing. Whitefish Lake connects with Little Cranberry, Cranberry and Dog Lake without travelling through any of the lock stations.
Packages and Rates
Shangri-La Lodge only offers full service American Plan rates. The 2009 rate was $525 US per person per week. The 2010 rate is not currently posted on their site. Folks, it doesn’t get much better than that for value.
Boat rentals are additional. They have 2 types of 14′ fishing boats and 20′ pontoon boats. This may be one of the few drawbacks of this place, in my opinion. I like to fish out of a 16′ boat for the extra room when fishing with a couple of kids and my dad. But if you have your own boat or are only fishing two people, this shouldn’t be a problem at all.
Location
Sangri-La Lodge is located near Elgin, Ontario. They are just a 1/2 hour above the Thousand Islands Bridge. The Google Map below is intended to give you an idea of their general location and may not reflect the exact destination.

As mentioned in the post, I have friends that go here and love the place. They are casual fishermen but generally catch enough to make their trip very enjoyable. They mostly target bass. They have their own boat and have not rented any of the camp boats. They describe the food and hospitality as excellent. I am posting this comment and their rating for them after a recent conversation about Shangri-La Lodge.
