Our friend Whitney just got back from Eagle Falls Lodge. This is what she said in her 5 star review…

In the twelve years of vacationing at Eagle Falls Lodge, I have never been disappointed. The fishing is phenomenal. There are several trustworthy places to catch walleye for shore lunch. There are also many spots that have a history of producing large northern and walleye, but every year we find new coves, flats, or creeks that produce many fish, large fish, or both. In one week of fishing it’s possible to catch enough fish to feel like an expert about the lakes, but with both Red Lake and Parker to explore, I’ve never gotten bored with the area. There’s always new fishing holes to find. The current owners have made the trip the best experience yet. Our boats are gassed and free of water each morning. They have purchased new 20 hp motors to replace the 15 hp ones on Red Lake. The 9.9 hp motors on Parker are being replaced by 15s. Fresh fruit is now served with breakfast and ice cream makes an appearance at dinner even though we are 3 miles by boat from town. The scenery is a breathtaking expanse of trees and water which means plenty of fresh air and wildlife including ducks, loons, eagles, bears, beavers, deer, and moose. This trip equals the most exciting week of my year, all at a surprisingly reasonable cost.

She was kind enough to send us some great pictures of her June trip to Eagle Falls Lodge. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

This cabin houses 7 people.

Lots of good eating happens at the Monday night fish fry held here...You can also see one of the large cabins in the background.

Whitney shared that they love to eat their fish at shore lunch unbattered.

This beautiful view is just a 10 minute walk from the lodge

While most people just fish Parker Lake and Red Lake, Whiteny and her brother like to do some exploring through portages. They caught 37 in just 6 hours.

Thanks so much to Whitney for sharing her trip to Eagle Falls Lodge. You can read more reviews of the lodge on their Fishing Traveler page.

  1. Brian H says:

Which protages did you traverse and what are those lakes like?

  2. Whitney says:

This year we portaged into Leoni Lake which is west of camp, just past Young’s Bay (if you are familiar with Red Lake). It is a short, (50 meters), uphill portage on an old trail. In past years we have taken one of the camp’s smaller spare boats up there for the day. The fishing there is usually fast-paced with eater size walleye (i.e. 16-18 inches) and for a small lake it has a lot of variation with two islands, a channel between the island and the mainland, and a creek coming in the west side of it. We have gotten some 20″ to 24″ walleye out of there and a few larger northern, trolling lures. However, this trip we took a canoe and oared across Leoni to the back of it. We took a less clear, but four minute (walking with a canoe upside-down) walk to the lake past Leoni which has a depth of 49 feet on a detailed map of Red Lake. At camp we call this Whitson Lake. Here, the fishing was excellent. We stayed about 15 feet off of shore. My brother casted lures in toward shore and caught northern and I casted a yellow grub on a jig head out and caught walleye. The fish were all 17″ or bigger and nicely colored. This year we also took a boat into Coin Lake, which we tend to do once a year for fun. We always catch fish and normally see a moose. Last year a 44″ muskie was caught out of there. That was it for portages this year; the rest of the week we were tearing it up on Red or Parker.
