Scott and his friends took another trip with Slate Falls Outposts on Lake Minnis. Scott reviewed previous year’s trips here at Fishing Traveler. It appears from the trip report video like they had a nice time again in 2010. I didn’t see a ton of trophy fish caught but it looks like they caught a bunch of nice pike and walleye.
Our friend Whitney just got back from Eagle Falls Lodge. This is what she said in her 5 star review…
In the twelve years of vacationing at Eagle Falls Lodge, I have never been disappointed. The fishing is phenomenal. There are several trustworthy places to catch walleye for shore lunch. There are also many spots that have a history of producing large northern and walleye, but every year we find new coves, flats, or creeks that produce many fish, large fish, or both. In one week of fishing it’s possible to catch enough fish to feel like an expert about the lakes, but with both Red Lake and Parker to explore, I’ve never gotten bored with the area. There’s always new fishing holes to find. The current owners have made the trip the best experience yet. Our boats are gassed and free of water each morning. They have purchased new 20 hp motors to replace the 15 hp ones on Red Lake. The 9.9 hp motors on Parker are being replaced by 15s. Fresh fruit is now served with breakfast and ice cream makes an appearance at dinner even though we are 3 miles by boat from town. The scenery is a breathtaking expanse of trees and water which means plenty of fresh air and wildlife including ducks, loons, eagles, bears, beavers, deer, and moose. This trip equals the most exciting week of my year, all at a surprisingly reasonable cost.
She was kind enough to send us some great pictures of her June trip to Eagle Falls Lodge. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

First up is a very impressive video of a Lac Seul trip…I am taken back by the number of quality smallmouth bass in this video.
The reviews are starting to add up here on Fishing Traveler. We just received one that was quite unique. It certainly speaks to the quality of service that you will receive at Expeditions North Lodge. I’ll let Matt’s comments speak for themselves. But if you think every outfitter would do this for someone, you are wrong.
My dad & I returned for the second straight year because of the quality of the camp, boats and fishing and of course the personable staff. Unformately our trip was cut short due to the illness of my grandmother so we had to fly out after being there for only 24 hrs. David took the time to arrange our fly out with the neighboring camp, took us over there the next morning and waited with us until we flew out (2hrs later), all while he had 26 guys in camp. To me that says two things, one he cared about us to make sure we were taken care of and that he complete trust in his staff to handle things while he is gone.
But onto the fishing, in the one day of fishing we caught perch that average 11 – 12″ with the biggest measuring 13.5″ along with about 10 pike and who knows how many walleyes. Based on that success, the fun we had last year and the way they worked to get us out quickly the next morning we have already mailed our deposit for next year. Within our group I believe we will increase from the 12 guys we had this year to 16 or 18.
I would highly recommend this camp to anyone.

The first this week is a report from Flint Wilderness Resort out of Longlac, Ontario. The fishing overall sounds pretty good.
Our friend Erie recently spent June 5 to June 12, 2010 at one of Silver Water Wheel Lodge’s outpost cabins. They stayed at an outpost and not the main lodge. He sent me a bunch of pictures. So, I have put them into a picture report.
Erie gave Silver Water Wheel Lodge all 5 stars and you can read his review on their page. But if it is true a picture tells 1000 words, here’s several thousand words to get you introduced to Silver Water Wheel Lodge.
Thanks to Erie for sharing his trip with us.
I love the soundtrack to this video. They are fishing Jungfrau Lake in Ontario. I assume they are doing in through Leuenberger’s. Looks like a terrific time. If you are considering this outfitter, it has some good video of what you can expect in the accommodations.
Here is a video from IDO Fishing on an August trip with our friends at Pasha Lake Cabins to fish the Jackfish River.
While this video takes place in Minnestota, the information on bobber fishng for walleye is useful for any trip where walleyes are the target. I have always respected Gary Roach. His walleye knowledge is incredible, and he is an excellent teacher.
Kevin Geary, owner of Angler’s Kingdom, and his son Hayden recently blogged about seeing wolves on a woodland caribou.
Here is an excerpt form the post…
We came in the night before, got up had breakfast and headed out to ice fish. As soon as we came around the corner , right behind camp, I saw two black wolves had a Woodland Caribou down.
We took some photos and video. We followed the tracks about 6 miles down the lake and the two black wolves had hearded that Caribou all the way down keeping it out of the bush. They went right past the front of the camp- probably about the time we were cooking breakfast. If we had looked out the front window we would have seen them. It would have been awesome to see the fight. I’m sure that Caribou didn’t give up easily Another set of about 40 Caribou trampled another path across the lake and also went right by the front of camp -probably in early morning.
The next morning Hayden and I walked about 50 yards from the camp to the back side of our island. We video taped the wolves who had been joined by two grey wolves and one mottled.
They weren’t friends and it showed. Plenty of fighting.
The video is posted on the Angler’s Kingdom blog.
