Fishing
While the walleye fishing is excellent at Kesagami, trophy northern pike are their speciality. Their superior fishing is a result of very strict conservation methods. They only allow the harvest of walleye for shore lunch and have a total catch and release policy for pike. Additionally, a single barbless hook policy helps to assure a remarkable fishery.
Pike get big up here. I mean very big. A number of fish in the 50″+ class have been caught over the years. 40″ fish are relatively common. This doesn’t mean that they jump in the boat on every trip but there aren’t many places in Ontario that give you consistent opportunities at trophy pike fishing like Lake Kesagami.
Big walleye can be caught but I wouldn’t call Kesagami a trophy walleye fishery. The consistency of one to four pound walleye is exceptional though.
Lake Kesagami is a pretty shallow lake at an average depth of 7′. So your walleye and pike patterns may be a bit different than you are used to. The folks at Kesagami Wilderness Lodge will assist you in tackle selection prior to and during your trip.
Whitefish can also be caught.
