Eagle Falls Lodge

I was recently contacted by the owners of Eagle Falls Lodge. I don’t come across many places that I haven’t visited their web site. But Eagle Falls Lodge, on Parker Lake with fishing on Red Lake, was new to me. On first inspection, what immediately caught my eye was their American Plan rate, which is extremely reasonable. I am also partial to boat-in camps. They give you the wilderness experience without quite the isolation of fly-ins. The rates for Eagle Falls Lodge is what you will pay at most boat-in’s without meals. Intrigued yet? I know that I was. Keep reading for more information on this lodge.

Fishing

At Eagles Falls Lodge, walleye and northern pike are the main target for traveling fishermen. In Red Lake, muskie and lake trout can also be had. It does not sound like Parker Lake and Red Lake are connected by navigable waterway. But the Lodge has separate boats on Red Lake.

Accommodations

For a rustic lodge, they have a number of key modern convenciences like bathrooms with toilets and showers with hot water. They also have power 24 hours a day.

They max out at 25 guests, a nice number which I suspect allows for good customer service and lots of water to fish by yourself.

Packages and Rates

I know I told you earlier the rates were good. Here is what they are for 2010, $750 for adults and $375 for children 12 years old and under. They run their packages from Saturday afternoon arrival to Friday morning departure. During your stay, you get breakfast and dinner served in the main lodge and bag lunches (or a shore lunch kit), boat/motor on Red Lake and Parker lake, all of your gas, lodging, boat-in transportation and vehicle parking. Get this…the package price also includes your taxes.

Why does this place have to be over a 24 hour one-way drive from where I live?

Your launching destination is in Red Lake, Ontario. The Google Map below is meant for general reference purposes only and should not be used for specific driving directions.

I have been going to Eagle Falls for over 10 years. Current owners have continued the fine traditions I found on my first visit and have added several new features. For the price, I can’t imagine a better fishing destination being available. I was there the last week of May-first of June in 2010. The fishing on Red Lake was tremendous and the accommodations and hospitality were excellent; I would recommend Eagle falls to any one looking for good walleye and northern fishing on 2 beautiful lakes at a very reasonable price.

This place had excellent fishing. The group I was with caught hundreds of walleyes. There were a handful of Northern caught over 35in, many over 40in with many many 20in+ walleye.

Having just returned from a fantastic week at Eagle Falls Lodge I can not wait until it is time to return there. Everything you could imagine, from excellent walleye fishing, and monster northern pike, on both Red Lake and Parker Lake, very gracious hosts, great food, and all at a reasonable price. I have been going there for several years, and it is hard to believe, but it gets better every year. If you are looking for a completely wonderful Canadian fishing trip, this is it.

Five us just returned from Eagle Falls Lodge. This is the best fishing trip for the price bar none. You just bring your gear and clothes and everything else is provided. We caught a lot of Walley and Northern. Having two lakes to fish on gives you a lot of options that you won’t get at other lodges.

We caught a lot of 20″ plus Walleye and 30″ plus Northerns. The owners are so nice and helpful. The food is home cooked and just like home. Steak, French Toast, Cheese Cake, Ice Cream and more. The rooms have electricity, running water and showers.

A great place at a great price. Can’t wait to come back.

Many walleye in the 22″-27″ range. We ate 17″-18″ fish every day there at shore lunch. Breakfast and dinner meals were fantastic. Onwers gave advice on seasonal fishing patterns. Off the beaten path without the extra expense. Nice value.

In the twelve years of vacationing at Eagle Falls Lodge, I have never been disappointed. The fishing is phenomenal. There are several trustworthy places to catch walleye for shore lunch. There are also many spots that have a history of producing large northern and walleye, but every year we find new coves, flats, or creeks that produce many fish, large fish, or both. In one week of fishing it’s possible to catch enough fish to feel like an expert about the lakes, but with both Red Lake and Parker to explore, I’ve never gotten bored with the area. There’s always new fishing holes to find. The current owners have made the trip the best experience yet. Our boats are gassed and free of water each morning. They have purchased new 20 hp motors to replace the 15 hp ones on Red Lake. The 9.9 hp motors on Parker are being replaced by 15s. Fresh fruit is now served with breakfast and ice cream makes an appearance at dinner even though we are 3 miles by boat from town. The scenery is a breathtaking expanse of trees and water which means plenty of fresh air and wildlife including ducks, loons, eagles, bears, beavers, deer, and moose. This trip equals the most exciting week of my year, all at a surprisingly reasonable cost.

This past week was my second year in a row going to Eagle Falls Lodge. I can tell you right now I will be back next year! The owners are helpful in making sure to help your every need. Walleye and Northern are the main fish you will find and trust me, you will find them! What I found most fascinating was the shore lunch. They provide you with cookers to fry up your keepers fresh on shore for lunch. Not only is the fishing excellent, but the breakfast and dinner meals are delicious and homemade.

I love the fact that you boat in to a camp that is isolated from the town. However, all of the camp has electricity and running water. You will feel like you are away from everything, yet have all of the modern conveniences at your fingertips. Price is wonderful because your lodging, gas for boats, and meals are all included. The staff goes above and beyond the call of duty and that is why I will keep coming back!

I’ve been going to Canada resorts in Ontario for 52 years, and I’ve stayed in about every resort from Vermillion Bay to Red Lake. The past 15 years I have stayed at Eagle Falls Resort. This is my home away from home. The fishing and food are both fantastic. The hosts go beyond the call of duty. The beds are comfortable; the showers are hot. Who could ask for more from a fishing vacation? I highly recommend it to a novice or an experienced fisherman. Can’t wait to get back.

I was out fishing on Parker Lake on my birthday. Back in Wisconsin my daughter and wife went out for dinner. During cocktails, my daughter raises her glass and says “Happy Birthday Dad, I hope you catch the biggest fish”. Back on Parker Lake, BANG!! the lure took off. I caught the largest northern pike of my life!
What happened? God listens! Coincidence! Carrie’s birthday present for me!

This trip I wait for all year. I will be back next year.

I visited Eagle Falls Lodge in early July and it has been by far the best week of the summer. I am not an experienced fisherman but had no trouble catching multiple walleye and northern pike on Red Lake and Parker Lake. At times it seemed the fish were almost jumping in the boat. The food was outstanding and the cabins were very comfortable. The owners were fantastic and even provided a fireworks display on July 4th. I met a lot of great people and would love to go back next year. Everything about the trip exceeded my expectations. It is a great opportunity for the occasional or expert fisherman to have a week of uninterrupted relaxation.

Just got back from eagle falls lodge, as usual the fishing was incredible. i’ve been coming here for eight years now and never been disapointed, my favorite part is the choice of two lakes, Parker lake and Red lake, Parker lake is a smaller more sheltered lake (7 miles long) and red lake is much bigger and deeper(about 43,000 acres). depending on the wheather you can stay tucked away in a quiet bay on parker or go after the really big ones on red. The hosts have always gone above and beyond the call of duty to make your stay the best it can be and the food is exellent, i also like that for one reasonable price everything is included, just bring your gear. I look forward to my vacation to Eagle falls lodge all year and it is my favorite time of year.

We just spent our second vacation at Eagle Falls Lodge! We gifted the trip to my parents this year as well and we had a wonderful time! You can’t expect to find a more relaxed and friendly atmosphere anywhere. AND the fishing! We fished Red Lake the entire time last year, never getting the time to go to Parker Lake…we tried Parker Lake the second day and never left it the rest of the trip! We shore lunched it every day (except 1) and always had to stuff ourselves with the fish we caught! Last year, I had made the leader board with my 28″ walleye and this year I caught the biggest Northern of our group…31″. We plan to return with a family group in 2012…we are already making plans!

Carrie and Travis are wonderful hosts…couldn’t ask for better. Congrats to them for an accomplishment well done!

If high quality service and friendliness are important when you stay at a fishing lodge, Eagle Falls Lodge is the place for you! This was our first time to fish Red Lake and Parker Lake. The owner Travis did not let us flounder; with not knowing were to fish. He took us out the first morning of fishing and fished with us until lunch. What a treat! When I asked him what we owe him he stated, “This is part of the package.” If it is your first time out with them, they want to make sure you have a good time from day one! We will be returning.

Travis took us out on Red lake so we could become familar with the bigger body of water as Parker Lake was easy to navigate without help. Eagle Falls Lodge – a home away from home. The stay at the lodge was extraordinary again this year. Our week ended yesterday the 6th. (2 1/4 hours to get over the border ughh!).
I’ve been coming to Eagle Falls Lodge for 10 plus years and it has never been better. Travis takes care of us with all the technical aspects of a fisherman’s needs, while Carrie comforted us with home cooking that never stops getting better. By the way is it already excellent food, so better than excellent ??? Yes!
The fishing on “Big Red” was pretty challenging this year, but Dave and I were still able to pull in more than forty 21″ or better Walleyes, along with a few stray 30″ Northerns. Oh yeah, Dave and I also came in top dogs for the week on the big walleye tournament – I came in with a 27″ and Dave beat that about an hour later with a 27 1/2″. Congrats to Phil on his enormous 46 1/2″ Northern catch on Red Lake. What an incredible week”
Thanks to Carrie and Travis for setting the stage for a terrific trip at Eagle Falls Lodge, once again!!!

By the way, the 3-star rating on the fishing needs explanation: we struggled to find fish under the 21 inch size this year…There must have been some summer camp going on for that size range…otherwise, 5-Star for sure!!!

If you are looking for a place for your first fishing trip to Canada or are thinking of trying a different camp this is your place. The owners Travis and Carrie are great you won’t meet better people. You can get as much help as you need on where to fish, what the fish are hitting on the whole nine yards. Everywhere we put our lines in we caught fish. The boats and motors are top notch. The food was incredible and bring your appitite. Lots of wildlife and the landscape is beautiful. Been going to EFL for 25 years . There is nothing I would change. The Fishing is excellent. very consistent year to year. Out of curiosity I kept a walleye log the last 2 years.2010 had 66 walleyes over 22 in. in my boat & this year we had 40 over 21 in. Biggests 27 1/2 & 27in. I call the 21 to 24 in. walleyes on steriods because of the fight they put up. You won’t find a nicer place to spend a week. From great hosts that go out of there way to make your stay great- the fishing on 2 lakes from the same camp-The food is Excellent – We normally go the 1st part of Aug. Needless to say we had a GREAT TIME!!! Everything was just as we had hoped for and MORE!! Travis and Carrie along with their entire staff made us feel like family and provided our entire group with EXCELLENT service during our stay!!
This a GREAT PLACE to take young anglers, the lake provides alot of sheltered bays to escape the wind and rough water if the occassion arises and still allows the young angler a chance to land nice walleye and northerns. Just one more thing, we booked our 2011 trip prior to leaving this year!!!!!

I have been to Eagle Falls Lodge the last three years and have been very satisfied. The lodge is set between Red Lake and Parker Lake which are both excellent fishing lakes. Personal preference or weather dictates which lake you fish that day. Red Lake is a very large, deep, island studded body of water that should be carefully navigated in order to find your way back. Parker Lake which empties into Red via Eagle falls is smaller, weedier and very private. The lodge is run by a young, very dedicated and knowledgeable couple who picks you up in Red Lake and brings you to the lodge for the week by houseboat. All meals are included. Breakfast and supper are served in the lodge and supplies for either a bag lunch or shore lunch are provided. The boats are numerous, well maintained and partially upgraded every year. Sleeping facilities are provided with bathrooms, communal refrigerators and freezers. The A frame lodge which is used for dining is open to use for communal activities in the evenings. You are on an Island and there is no hiking, biking or town night life available. Fresh air, great fishing and peace and quiet abound.

We arrived at Eagle Falls Lodge on June 3rd, 2011. The late spring made the water temp colder on Red Lake; therefore the bite was very slow. But on the smaller Lake Parker the temp was up and the bite was on. Many, many walleyes were caught. I helped net a 42 inch Northern Pike for a group out of Sedalia Mo who forgot to take a landing net out (on Parker)………..Our hosts Travis and Carrie have made more updates on the new addition. The two new rooms are a must see. The deck adjoining the two rooms is wonderful…Again the meals were superb. Carrie and Travis, I gained six pounds while I was there! Great place to fish and relax. I’ve just returned from another great time at Eagle Falls Lodge. The current owners are the 3rd set since I’ve been going to this Lodge and I’d say these young people go above and beyond to make sure that you enjoy yourself and have a great fishing experience. I was most impressed by the fact that the “cook” was willing to cater to special diets of a couple of the individuals who were there. By the way, she does an excellent job and has even added a few dishes of her own along with the typical fair as started by the previous owners. The cost is way to reasonable and even with they determine an increase in the cost is necessary it will still be the best value for the money. If you haven’t tried it, I’d suggest you do. Travis & Carrie are the greatest. Best hosts ever. Great meals (gained 5 pounds, thanks a lot), and never slept better. You won’t find a better deal. You are isolated but have all the conforts, running hot water, heat, really nice lodge to hang out in. Choice of lakes right out the lodge door. One walkway to Parker (smaller & more “comfortable”) or go the other way to Red Lake. Continuing imporvement to the grounds. Boats on both lakes are always ready to go.

Couldn’t ask for anything more. If it is your first time Travis is more than willing to give you a primer on what to do and where to go so you can get off running. Vary knowledgable and more t han happy to share.

And because of the helpfull friendly atmosphere create by Travis & Carrie they attract like people. All of the guests were equally friendly and fun to be with.

May 2011 marked the first time visiting Eagle Falls Lodge on Parker Lake. We stayed a total of 5 days and it goes without saying, my son Zach and I had one of the BEST times we have ever had fishing. Travis & Carrie Mack- the owners do a great job making everyone feel at home from the beginning. Carrie is a fantastic cook and the menu she has put together is to die for – YUMMY!!! The fishing is phenomenal; we averaged 16” to 24” Pike and 15” to 18” Walleye daily.

Travis goes the extra mile to make sure the time you spend out on the water is an eventful one. He is happy to guide you through the lake showing you where to fish and what to use to catch the big ones. Visitors should plan on seeing Eagles, Moose, Duck and Beaver on a daily basses; never venture out without your camera.

Sleeping arrangements are what you would expect; each room has everything one needs to feel at home and comfortable.

The trip was well worth every penny and we plan on visiting again soon.

Last Spring I recieved a phone call from my dad and he was pretty excited. He told me he had just won the grand prize at the Bloomington,IL sports show. I was very excited for him and couldn’t believe my luck when he said it was a trip for two at Eagle Falls Lodge and I was welcome to go with him. My dad talked to Travis several times and both of us started reading Carrie and Travis’s great blog. We booked our trip for late June and started gathering our gear in preparation.

From the moment everyone arrives at the boat until the end of the trip Travis and Carrie make you feel like you are part of the family. They make sure that you have everything you need and with it being our first trip to these two lakes Travis took us out and showed us where and how to catch fish. We caught a bunch of fish with Travis and after we were finished fishing he marked up a map for us. With his help and the map we caught more walleyes than we ever dreamed. We also caught as many northerns as we could handle. We fished Parker the night we arrived and liked it so much we never fished anywhere else.

My dad and I had the time of our lives and both of us have fished all over the U.S. This was the best trip we have ever been on and it was not the great fishing that made it the best. Both of us have been on trips where we caught a ton of fish. What makes this trip so great are the hosts, accomadations, and great location and atmosphere. The food is outstanding and Carrie made some of the best deserts I have ever eaten. Even if we had not caught a fish we would have had a great time. I’m new to walleye/pike fishing, but caught more than I can count. Travis made sure that we had the correct tackle and techniques, and even spent a day showing us where to fish.

Food was all you can eat and excellent! Carrie is a great cook. Travis also cooks a mean ribeye. Accommodations are clean and well maintained – exactly what you would expect from a rustic lodge.

The only negative I can think of is the lack of non-stop flights between Texas and Red Lake.

Highly recommended. You will not be disappointed.

I’ve been going to Eagle Falls Lodge for almost 10 years. When I go there it’s by far the best week out of the entire year. I love it up there. You catch a lot of fish and big ones at that. The food is great. The view is great. The owners provide such good service for their guests. They care a lot about your visit to Eagle Falls Lodge. They want you to be satisfied and they go above and beyond to give you one of the best trips of your life. If you like to fish, catch fish, eat fish, eat great foods, spend time in nature, or just get away then this is the place to go. The shore lunches are the best part. There is nothing like eating freshly caught walleye right from the water. It’s better than any fish I’ve ever eaten. I could go on and on about Eagle Falls Lodge and the memories I have made there. I can’t wait to get up there this summer to catch some of those walleye and Northern.
