While the Andy Myers Lodge may have fun activities such as swimming, sunbathing, hiking, and berry picking as they advertise, that has nothing to do with why they are one of the 50 Best Fishing Lodges. Their inclusion is based on the fact that these folks are serious about their fishing. I would love to go to Andy Myers not just because it would be a great vacation but because I would also learn to become a better fisherman. They are not only trip hosts but also educators about fishing and conservation. This makes them very unique among Ontario and Quebec fishing lodges.

Do you enjoy excellent walleye fishing? Do you enjoy targeting trophy northern pike? I know that I sure do, and Nungesser Lake is one of the best lakes not only in Ontario but in all of Canada to find this combination. Whenever I think of really big trophy northerns, I immediately think of the pictures of huge pike caught by Angler’s Kingdom guests every year. The cool thing about Angler’s Kingdom is that you will be the guest of Kevin Geary who has made his living as a lodge owner and fisherman going after the monsters. Kevin knows the tricks and tips to catch trophy pike (and walleye too). While I haven’t been there yet, everything that I hear is that a week with Kevin at Angler’s Kingdom will not only give you a great shot at catching a bunch of big fish but also give you knowledge that you can use for your trophy pike pursuits for the rest of your life.

There aren’t many places in the world more beautiful than the Killarney Wilderness Park. Combine this natural beauty with great fishing and you have yourself the making of a prime fishing destination. Bear Lake Wilderness Camp offers you access to Killarney Wilderness Park’s excellent fishing and beautiful scenery.

BLWC is a boat-in camp offering fishermen many lakes to fish from. You can fish on the chain of main lakes and enjoy yourself, but the best fishing is found on their many portage lakes. Smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, pike and panfish are the top targets for fishermen. Walleye are available on the main lakes but in limited quantity. That said, they do catch a number of trophy walleye every year. Lake trout and brook trout are also available.

Northwestern Ontario has some great fishing opportunities. One of those opportunities is located 185 miles north of Red Lake at Big Hook Wilderness Camps fly-in outpost destinations. They have a number of outpost Housekeeping Plan camps that offer pike and walleye fishing.

Al Linder has spent some time there and raves about their walleye fishing.

Black Bear Lodge is a drive-in but remote lodge on Northwestern Ontario’s famous Red Lake.  Red Lake is a very big lake weighing in at about 43,000 acres. What makes Black Bear Lodge unique is that it is one of only two lodges at this end of the lake. If you want even more remote waters, they also have 7 portage lakes.

But please note that this remoteness comes because Black Bear Lodge is an outpost camp without running water, electricity, or toilets in the cabin. If you are into fishing though, this should not stop you as the location offers some great walleye and northern pike fishing. Lake trout are also available with the right techniques. Some muskie and smallmouth fishing can also be had.

Brennan Harbour Resort

Brennan Harbour is located on the the Whalesback Channel of Lake Huron, off the mouth of the Spanish River. They are the only resort on the Whalesback Channel. While there you can fish either the Channel or the Spanish River. The more that I read about this area, the more intrigued I am about this place. The fishing sounds really good. Brennan Harbour seems like a great spot to begin to explore its fishing opportunities.
