Red Lake is absolutely an incredible area to fish and Black Bear offers a great overall experience. Tasty family style meals are included and you will not find a better value. The owners are also extremely nice folks but expect to pitch in couple of times with trivial KP duty chores like setting up for meals or cleaning up dishes. The drive is not for the faint of heart and the camp albeit accommodating is not for the pampered fisher-person but I cannot think of a better way to get back in touch with nature while enjoying some incredible fishing, friends and unbelievable untouched Canadian shield lake scenery.

It is going on 6 years for me, I can’t get enough and highly recommend this trip for those who need to get away and decompress. The best feature for me, my cell phone doesn’t work there and they don’t have a phone!!! The company is great, the owners and frequent visitors draw a friendly crowd of folks who are eager to help the novices and share techniques between the experts. The scenery is fantastic, purple and orange sunsets, northern lights, mile high skies, clear waters, trees, beaver, moose, all the wild life you can imagine. Get it now while it lasts, this place is still innocent and the camp owners respect it. Oh – and the fishing is fantastic too…
