I have never personally stayed at anglers kingdom but fished the lake for several years at a different outpost. We like staying at this other outpost due to we are the only ones there. Hey, if you are going to be remote....be remote...Anyway, we have ran into anglers kingdom staff several times over the years. Now remember, we are from a different outpost, so if anybody would be treated bad it would be us you would thing.....Farther from the truth. Ever staff member my wife and I have ran into has been the most friendly person you could ever meet. In fact last year, we was at the take out point and couple of their staff members where there waiting to pick up that weeks clients. In the course of talking with them they even helped us unload the boat of the heavy items. Wow, that is just being nice young men. If and when I get to the point I can no longer do the remoteness of the outpost Kevins place will be the first I go to. Just because every staff member has treated me well very well knowing I was staying at a competitors lodge. And you know....shit happens...you are remote..

hey there kevin my old friend this is dave moore. how's everything going this year? I hope well. I just wanted to contact you and chat a little. I would like to say that coming up there with my family in 2009 and 2010 was the two best vacation's i have ever had. Not being able to come back in 2011 because i blew out my knee at work and having to have it completly rebuilt stopped me from coming. I am good to go now and we are making plans to come back in 2012 and i can not wait and niether little dave nor my wife dixie can wait either. I would like to comment on Chad M. review. I will leave the swearing out because you probably remember that i like to keep it real. I will start off with the trip's i had to your place were excellent my family and i could not have had a better time. the staff were great and very helpful if we did have a problem we did not have it but for a few minutes and it was fixed and thinking about it now i don't even remember any except for running out of toilet paper once and that was my fault. Anyway chad i helped around camp a few time's and i don't remember any ice maker any where and as for running out of bait it never happend to my family or i and they were having trouble tracking down bait when we were there but we never ran out. Kevin and his staff always took very good care of us. we never ran out of ice, water, the cabin's were alway's kept clean and the staff or kevin stopped by the cabin to see if everything was good every day. And as for checking into the other lodges i will let you know i talked with people that were staying at the other lodges and they wer'nt catching any fish because the people who ran the lodges were not telling them any ways how to catch them. I have more to say just not enough room in comment section to say everything i would like to. Anyway my suggestion to to you is that if you really did come there YOU DON'T KNOW YOUR ASS FROM A WHOLE IN THE GROUND ABOUT A GOOD FISHING LODGE. And just so you know i have never heard kevin bad mouth another lodge on the lake. And i have personally pulled another boat back to another lodge with two older gentleman in it and when we got back to that particular lodge the lodge owner tried to get us to come ther the next year so much so that he gave us flyer with his fishing packages and prices in it. i just smiled at him and said no thanks i like to go where the equipment work's and the owner and the staff look out for you and take good care of you. As for angler's kingdom my only real complaint is that we did not get to fish with kevin and his family very much this last time they are outstanding people and i am proud to have them be my family's friend's.

Overall Rating

Fishing

Staff Helpfulness

Value

My name really is Barry.

I have never fished at Angler's Kingdom.

I do fish usually once or twice a year with friends. I love fishing and have been doing it for most of my life which at 62 is quite a long time. I have gone throughout several provinces of Canada doing trips for multiple species and have done the simplest drive-in camps in southern Ontario to remote fly-ins in Nunavut and Alaska. I have probably been at 40 different camps at least so I have some familiarity with management and operation of camps- even having been at one on the verge of closing.

I and at least three other friends are planning on fishing at Angler's Kingdom in 2012. I first found out about it through reading some of Kevin's articles at esoxhunter.com . I researched the website and liked what I saw and heard. I called Kevin and talked with him. I also found out a friend had been there and he gave it glowing recommendations. From there we booked it.

My reason for coming is actually not for my self but for my friends. I have caught a lot of fish in my life but I want them to experience that thrill. I really think Angler's Kingdom is going to give them that opportunity. They voted to come on the American plan so it will be relaxing and fun.

Actually, I had seen the "CHAD" comment above before completing the booking. I had read it and in hearing what he was saying I really didn't care what he said. A toilet can always go bad; ice can run out and bait too. I have been a business owner and a home owner and I know things happen. That's life. From the website and from my friend and other comments here as well as Kevin's history in the business it is obvious he takes care of people. He knows he is in the service industry and service is the name of the game. Word of mouth is important to him and repeat customers are too.

We are excited to be coming and my friends can't wait. 2012 can't get here fast enough.

We have all the confidence in the world it will be a good camp for us and I truly believe it would be for you too. I hate to see "Negative Nellies" pop up that are not reliable sources of info. Some people can never be pleased; some are always pleased; and everyone else is in the middle. There are too many good comments to let one bad one overshadow years of good service.

Like they say keep your line tight- and I hope this tightens up any doubts you have. I will be there and hope you are too.

FIVE OF US STAYED AT ANGLERS KINGDOM FOR A WEEK IN AUGUST 2011. THE CABINS WERE MORE THAN WE EXPECTED. THE PEOPLE WERE MORE THAN HELPFUL AND PLESANT. THE FISHING WAS EXCELLENT, AND THE TIME SPENT THERE WAS PLEASING AND CARE FREE. KEVIN, BRIAN, AND ALL WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO MAKE OUR TRIP AS GOOD AS IT COULD BE! THE TIME SPENT WITH MY GRANDSON AND FRIENDS AND THE PEOPLE AT THE KINGDOM WILL BE REMEMBERED A LONF LONG TIME!

Thanks to Paul, Dan, Ron and Dan for the kind words.

Harry my apologies for not replying to you but I do not visit this site.
Literally any time you can go fishing is a good time.
My personal favourite is the first week of August.
The past 6 years August has produced pike over 50 inchs and walleye over 30 inches.
We caught a beautiful fat 51 inch pike the first week of august 2011 and I caught a 30 1/2 " walleye last week.
May 15-30 is prime time for shallow water pike.

Our rate per person for a full week american plan is 1250, housekeeping is 1025
My guiding rate is 150 per day.
I always state that I cannot guarantee any particular day for guiding. I simply have too many responsiblilities taking care of guests on a daily basis. But I do my best. As the saying goes - Every day is an adventure
Now
Unfortunately from time to time I come across these "shots from the weeds" as I call them. An anonimous person with no regard for anyone, intentionally trying to damage my reputation and the reputation of my camp. Actually this one was brought to my attention from 3 seperate repeat guests of mine.

"Chad" I say "Chad" because I highly doubt this person was ever at my camp. It is much more likely that he is a jealous competitor using disgusting tactics in order to gain sales. "Chad" is trying to make you believe he is posting his comments to help you poor unsuspecting people from big bad Kevin Geary. Would an inidividual so concerned with your welfare have such little regard for mine? Myself , my wife and my children have a very significant investment in money, energy and emotion in Angler's Kingdom. If you are wondering how much? - check on the price to buy a remote fishing lodge. My family and the family of my staff make our living operating this business. My family starting with my grandfather built the first fishing camp in Red Lake back in 1948, my father, two of my sisters and my brother have all owned and operated fishing lodges. In the past 63 years we have hosted well over 25,000 guests, many of which have become good friends as well as guests. Come on "Chad" you can't ask these people to believe that I am that bad, I must have learned something in all those years.

I would have replied to this in June when one of my guests brought it to my attentions but I was busy serving my guests. And in fact still quite busy in lite of the poor economy. I am very grateful to my guests for continuing to visit. I know that many other camps are not faring so well.

Now I will reply to "chad's" comments - in no praticular order

Please visit my website www.anglerskingdom.com to verify any of this.

I state in the opening line of describing Angler's Kingdom that "Angler's Kiingdom is not a five star resort"

My ice machine has never broken down because I don't have one.
I state that on my website. Like everything else here at camp - including, gas, food, building material, drinking water, guests, guests luggage etc, including ice - is all carried in.

Every one of our cabins have freezers.
I could be mistaken but I believe ice is simply "frozen water"
My staff rely on gratuities so I find it hard to believe that any of them let alone all of them would refuse to freeze some water for "Chad"
A big part of the charm of Anglers Kingdom is our remoteness without having to fly.
Being remote we do run out of things from time to time and it does take time to get things brought it.

"Chads" comment about me not being able to buy worms because I don't pay my bills only solidifies my belief that he is in fact a competitor. Otherwise all I can say is WOW ???!!!???. Maybe that is why people don't warm up to him.

I can say that we have had toilets quit working. Opening up and then shutting down basically a small town each spring and fall has many challenges. It is much much more work than you may imagine.
Often small particles dry in the pipes over the winter and if not properly flushed out before reconnecting in the spring they will lodge in the taps etc. Many times they will lodge in the mechanism that controls the water flow into the toilet tank. Again being at a remote location it takes time to get a replacement part brought in.
If you are a potential guest of Anglers Kingdom and you would be devastated and feel the need to report that you had to use a pail to poor water into the toilet tank to flush it - I would strongly suggest you heed "Chads" dire warning and not come near this place. ( My apologies it is hard to control my sarcasm) .
"Chad" says "it is impossible to make this stuff up" - Well???!!!!???

And - "I hope he goes out of business again" ????? I've never gone out of business. I've sold a few. But more importantly why does "Chad " want me out of business??? I've alwaay said that "When things don't make sense there is usually a reason."

The rest of it is just more of the same.

There is always two sides to a story and this was mine.

I truly hope you take the opportunity to visit - get to know the family - and see why I chose to build Ontarios newest fishing lodge on Nungesser Lake .

Oh by the way
Our meals are awesome - flat out awesome. Prime rib, steaks, ribs, chicken, turkey.
No body leaves the table hungry. My guests are constantly raving about how good the meals are.

Hope to see you on the lake

I have been fishing on Nungessor for over 20 years and staying at Anglers Kingdom the past five years. It is a great place to stay and the staff is very accommodating. Keep in mind that this is a remote camp so if you are looking for a Marriott you won't find one. The cabins however are very comfortable with nice beds and amenities. We have always taken in our own bait and take coolers with freezer packs to keep our boat items cold. There was a big refrigerator in our cabins so keeping items cold have not been an issue. The food has always been tremendous and the dining room has a rustic feel. If you are looking for a great camp on a remote lake with great fishing this is your place. If you are looking for five star accommodations with turn down service you might want to stay closer to a drive in lake by a larger town.

Overall Rating

Fishing

Staff Helpfulness

Value

The group of guys i go fishing to canada with every year enjoyed the absolute worst accomadations we have ever had while we stayed at angler's kingdom. We go fishing to canada every year and never seen a lodge run so poorly. First of all Kevin is never there and when he is there he doesn't go out of his way to meet you unless he sees you for a meal in the lodge. We did the american plan deal with him and what a joke that is. The ice machine broke down and we didn't have ice for three days untill they finally went to town and got bags of ice. Then of course everybody wanted ice for beer and what not and the bags of ice didn't last long so they ran out again. This is after they already rationed you on the first bag they gave. I don't know what anybody else thinks but drinking warm beer and pop sucks. They kept telling us more was coming which they were right it did three days later. They also claim to have bait. Well i asked for crawlers on the saturday we arrived. I asked for them every single day more than one time a day and they said i would get them. I finally did get them on wednesday when another group of guys were leaving and they gave me there extras because they had heard the conversation i had wtih some of the dock boys who kept telling i would get them and never did. Everyday they lied to me instead of just saying sorry we can't get them the boss doesn't pay his bills in town so nobody will loan him stuff anymore. They ran out of potatoes the second day we were there so we had none for shorelunches or for dinner. You can't drink the water out of the faucets so they have jugs of bottled water supplied to you in the cabins. Well they ran out of water for two days. So now we are drinking warm beer and pop with no water that is just awesome accomadations i did better than thet when i went to the boundry waters on a canoe trip. The cabin we were in had a toilet that didn't flush. Yes you read that right it didn't flush until you filled a bucket and poured it in when you were done doing your duty. The toilet also leaked and there was CARPET on the floor in the bathroom. That was so discusting. We had to deal with that all week because just like everything else at that dump we were lied to and it never got fixed. Kevin was never there so you could never talk to him about anything going on. I even wrote him a letter telling him basically everything i'm saying now and he has never responded back saying sorry or nothing. His place is the biggest dump i have ever been to. You couldn't pay me to go back there and i hope anybody who reads this never wastes there money on this place. it is impossible to make this stuff up. Nobody deserves to spend there hard earned money on a place like this and i hope he goes out of business again. Now with all that being said the fishing on nungessar lake is great. never had a problem catching fish at all. Big numbers of walleye and pike and very good average size. I would recommend staying somwhere else like birch point or nungessar lake lodge. I have never been to one of those places to stay but i can promiss you it would be better than angler's kindom. If you don't believe any of this than go ahead and try it but just remember i warned you.

Overall Rating

Fishing

Staff Helpfulness

Not Rated

Value

Not Rated

Kevin,
I've watched your video several times over the past couple of years and enjoy it. My wife and I fish for muskies but would like to catch some large pike. Can you tell me the best time of the year to come up to your resort to catch the larger fish? Also, the cost for the two of us for a week trip and your cost to guide us one day. Could I bring my own boat or is it better to use yours?
Thanks,
Harry Marfin
