While the Andy Myers Lodge may have fun activities such as swimming, sunbathing, hiking, and berry picking as they advertise, that has nothing to do with why they are one of the 50 Best Fishing Lodges. Their inclusion is based on the fact that these folks are serious about their fishing. I would love to go to Andy Myers not just because it would be a great vacation but because I would also learn to become a better fisherman. They are not only trip hosts but also educators about fishing and conservation. This makes them very unique among Ontario and Quebec fishing lodges.

This entry contains the information I have learned about Andy Myers Lodge from searching the web. Fishing Traveler has received no financial or any other type of compensation for this post. The information here is accurate only to the best of my knowledge. All information should be verified with Andy Myers Lodge before booking a trip.

Eagle Lake

Andy Myers Lodge provides prime access to fishing on Eagle Lake. Eagle Lake has a real nice diversity of fish including walleye, pike, smallmouth bass and muskie. Lake trout and whitefish are also available. The lake has 63,428 surface acres of water and more than 490 islands. This is a big lake. They also have portage, fly-in and 4WD Safari access lakes.

Accommodations

They have 12 cabins. All cabins are fully furnished with private bathrooms. They provide all bed linens and towels which many fishing lodges do not provide and can save room to pack some extra fishing gear.

Boats

The lodge has excellent boats for fishing Eagle Lake. They offer 16 1/2 and 18 foot aluminum boats (as an upgrade) that are deep and wide. Motors are 25 and 40 HP. You can also bring your own boat. Their dock has electricity for battery charging.

Extras

Boats are always gassed up for you in the morning and bait buckets are always full. They will fillet, wrap and freeze your fish for you at no cost.

Guide service is available if you arrange prior to your trip.

They can arrange remote daily fly-ins to 18 remote lakes or 4WD Safari trips to other remote lakes which are available in some packages or at an additional charge.

Fishing Education

Their focus on fishing education is one of the most impressive things about Andy Myers Lodge. Many places will provide you with some introductory information such as a marked map but this is just the beginning at Andy Myers Lodge. They have an extensive fishing instruction program which includes nightly rap sessions to let you know of changing conditions or patterns.

Steve and Danny Herbeck lead the Pro Staff at the lodge. Both have extremely impressive fishing resumes. Throughout the season, many top fishing pros visit Andy Myers Lodge and provide instruction to vacationing fishermen.

Their fall trophy musky hunt looks super cool. Musky fishing pros help you try and find that fish of a lifetime. Bundle up as it can be cold but the fishing is usually pretty hot in the fall at Eagle Lake.

Packages and Rates

It is impossible to get into all of the packages that you can choose from at Andy Myers Lodge. But let’s simplify it some by stating they have American Plan and Housekeeping Plan. They also have packages that include guiding service and fly-ins. Their rates are quite reasonable when you compare the value you get here to other lodges in Ontario and Quebec.

I really like their Father & Son or Daught special. It includes American Plan lodging, one all day guided trip and one fly-in or 4WD safari. This can be done for $2339. This is a pretty sweet deal when you consider everything you get.

Location

They are located near Vermilion Bay in Northwest Ontario. The Google Map below is intended to give you an idea of their general location and does not reflect the exact destination.

Well to start, I will say this, I have been there 5 times, over 5 years. The staff there are second to NONE, from the housekeeping, to the dock boys, to the guides to Steve himself, they are all TOP NOTCH!!! I haven’t found a better lodge, and as long as it stays this way I wont be looking. I haven’t had a single disappointing year at AML, and don’t think I will ever. The fishing there is good from the dock, to the absolute ends of Eagle, for trophy fish, or action AML has what you are looking for. This camp, is clean, is basically designed to get you on fish, and everyone has bent over backwards for me, and I have seen them do the same for others. I have NOTHING bad to say about the camp, from musky to walleye, this is my FIRST choice everytime. AML is like heaven on earth. plain and simple

You WILL see me back there, year after year.
