Not everyone thinks to head to Delaware for a fishing trip but there are some waters that shouldn’t be overlooked. Lums Pond, which was built by the Army Corps of Engineers to hold water for the locks of the original C&D Canal, is one such body of water. Lums Pond is the largest freshwater pond in Delaware and sits in Lums Pond State Park. Lums Pond is a small 200 acres and offers a sandy beach for sunbathing but swimming is not allowed. Boat rentals, boat launching ramp and two piers are available at the state park. This lake does receive its share of pressure from recreational and tournament fishermen, especially in the summer.Fish Species

Lodging
Lums State Park - offers a 68-site campground with modern showers, a dumping station, picnic tables and grills. The sites are all large and six of them now have electric hookups. Yurts are also available and are round stationary structures with rigid cloth walls that feature: a single and double bed bunked together, a double size futon, and electric. A large outdoor deck and seating area, along with grill and water, gives you the rustic feel of camping outdoors with amenities not found in a tent.
RVparkreviews has some reviews of the park.
This state park is wonderful. The sites are huge, level and most are shaded. All the activities are a short drive on the other side of the park. Nice lake to fish on and very quiet.
Climate
Wildernet describes the climate.
The Chesapeake and Delaware Bays moderate Delaware’s climate. The state experiences four distinct seasons. Winter can be bitterly cold. Highs during this season average near freezing with low temperatures near 0 degrees F. Spring comes to this region in mid to late March. This is a pleasant time to visit with moderate temperatures and low humidity. Summer brings temperatures ranging from 80 to 90 degrees F. Humidity is highest inland with ocean breezes cooling the shoreline. Fall brings cooler temperatures and low humidity. The forested regions of the state often have brilliant foliage displays.
